A Delicate Balance of Highly Organized Within My Creative Disarray

Zip It, Buddy!

A lot of things need to be zipped.  Your fly.  Your sleeping bag.  Your jacket.  The leg on your zipper-leg jeans.  Your purse.  Your back-pack.  Your mouth during our National Anthem.

That’s right.  You heard me.  Or, perhaps you didn’t.  So I give you “the look”.  Hey Buddy, Shut your trap during the National Anthem.  Were you raised in a barn?  Perhaps you were.  Perhaps no one has ever told you to zip it during the National Anthem.  Perhaps someone should man-up and tell you now.

This seems to be a growing problem.  Three times in the last month or two I have been a frustrated witness to this little problem.  THREE TIMES!!!  The first time it was sixth-graders.  Ok, so I can cut them the teeniest little bit of slack.  They are young and still silly.  But believe you me, I gave them the “Mama look” and they got the message.  The second time it was High Schoolers.  Now, come on!  They are old enough to know better.  And, their supervisor said nothing to them!  Are we so “scared” that we will not correct our students?!?!?  The third time was AN ADULT.  I tried giving him “the look”, but could never get his attention.

Has anyone else experienced this sad phenomenon?  If so, did you do anything about it?  I am usually told by someone who loves me, that I need to mind my own business and keep MY mouth shut.  But, really, come on.  This is MY National Anthem you are disrespecting.  And, it’s YOUR National Anthem you are disrespecting.  And it is YOURSELF you are disrespecting.

Have some self-respect and honor.  Keep your trap shut during the National Anthem!

Personally, I liked the blog but I think that 6th graders should have already been taught to respect the National Anthem.
    Keep blogging!!

I love this and totally agree. I’ve given the momma look many times. We have this in common.
